Current obsessions:

1. Iced lattes. Chai is my favorite at SB, but I totally swoon over green tea lattes as well. By the way, while on another side of town earlier this week, Jeremy and I discovered that McDonalds have decent lattes for half the price!
vintage frames
2. Vintage/antique picture frames. These are my favorite thing to look for while thrifting right now. I have plans to bring new life to these pictured above.

3. Vampire Weekend's Contra. I've been listening to it for weeks now. I especially love "Diplomat's Son."

4. Letting Joaquin wear his pants under onesies. I think outfits looks sooo much better this way.

Jeremy and I are in the process of purchasing our first home. Fingers crossed! This has got me thinking about how we will definitely have to watch what we spend and take the importance of every purchase into consideration.
I'll admit, I've never worried much about money until Joaquin was born, and it has really humbled me. I'm learning to see the beauty in simplicity.

Before we move into our new home some major downsizing will occur. While we adjust and get situated, I plan on doing the following.

-Unless I have something specific in mind that I just NEED, thrifting before going to stores for new products.
-Taking advantage of sales and clearance racks. Jeremy is sooo good at this but sifting through messy piles of discounted items bores me to death. It's something I really need to work on.
-Completely doing away with disposable wipes for Joaquin around the home. I'm not quite ready to give cloth diapering a shot, but maybe in the future the opportunity will be welcome with open arms.
-Making whatever I can. Living with my family has posed a problem with this. I love DIY, but my resources are limited here. I'm eager to have space to CREATE.
-Plan outings that involve driving together. Jeremy is so bad about this. He drives all over the place often. By scheduling appointments, trips to the grocery store, etc. our gasoline use (one of our most costly expenses) will be cut immensely.
-Paying more trips to our library. I read a lot, and Jeremy watches a ton of movies.
-Overall just living simply. Picnics vs. eating out. Scoping out free events vs. going to a movie or shopping just because we're bored.

I look forward to these changes in our lives!

Jeremy and I had our baby shower yesterday. In his own words, "there was a lot of love in the room." I'm so thankful for my family, especially my mom for all her cute decorations + actually throwing the shower for me. I saw friends I had not seen in so long and it was very sweet. I'm grateful for all the gifts we received. Some time during our move, we misplaced my camera charger, so searching for it is mentally added to my to do list. Not many photos from the shower, but it's not a day I will soon forget. For now I will sit in a messy living room and sort through a ton of blue gifts!

Pre-party. Cupcakes, cakes, a diaper cake, and a few gifts from both of our moms + grandmother. We had a nautical theme!

Mid December, when did you sneak up on me? My baby shower is tomorrow, then Christmas the following weekend, then just a few weeks until my due date. 2010, you flew by.

We put a bid on a house this past week! Hoping for the best. ♥
Jeremy and I are now living in my grandparents house, out in the middle of nowhere (sort of.) Internet out here isn't so great which explains the lack of posting, but I still read everyone's journal! It's exciting seeing babies born in the Jan 2011 community! Our baby shower is this coming weekend, which reminds me I need to go dress shopping asap! I leave you with an inspirational nursery pic, and a silly picture of Jeremy having had a little too much eggnog last night.

My sister had her fifteenth birthday party this past Saturday, and aside from feeling exhausted from early on, it couldn't have gone better. It blows my mind that my baby sisters are teenagers and will be entering high school very soon. It was an emotional day for me to say the least. I'm so proud of my beautiful sisters for all their talents and accomplishments, and just because they're all around good kids. I know they'll continue to shine throughout adulthood.

moving, preparing for christmas, remaining calm and healthy. [Nov. 23rd, 2010|04:16 pm]

Jeremy and I are moving out of our apartment at the end of the month, and moving into the back area of my grandparents house for a few months. In between cleaning, school, cooking, drs appointments, looking for houses, etc. things have become kind of crazy.

When we have down time, this means after cleaning etc. is complete, we spend most of our time with my side of the family. When we all get together, there's about 13-20 of us. Holidays can get kind of crazy, not to mention expensive, so we do a (not so) secret santa for Christmas. We drew names last weekend, and I picked my aunt Betsy. I'm kind of stuck, because she is incredibly difficult to shop for. You know, one of those people who "has everything, yet uses nothing." This will definitely take a ton of thinking.
